Terms of Service

A record, not a verdict.

These terms govern scammercasefile.com and its browser extension. The short version: report honestly, read skeptically, and treat every entry as an unverified community account. See also the privacy policy.

1. What this service is

scammercasefile.com (including its Markdown pages, API/MCP endpoints, and browser extension — together, "the service") is a community-maintained log of self-reported WhatsApp scam reports. Reports are submitted by anonymous members of the public and are published without independent verification. A listing is an allegation by its reporter, not a finding of fact by us; the absence of a listing is not an endorsement of any number.

2. Using the service

You may search, read, and reuse the service for lawful purposes, including through automated agents. Aggregate statistics are licensed CC BY 4.0 (attribution required). You must not use the service to harass anyone, to scrape personal data for unrelated purposes, to overwhelm the service, or to present its unverified reports as confirmed fact.

3. Submitting a report

By submitting a report you confirm that it describes your own genuine experience, in good faith, and to the best of your knowledge. You must not submit reports you know to be false, reports intended to harass or defame, or content that includes anyone's private information beyond the phone number and name/alias the contact itself used.

You grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to publish, distribute, and adapt your submission as part of the public case file (including via our API, Markdown pages, and MCP server). Submissions are anonymous and cannot be edited after publication; corrections work by filing an additional report or requesting removal (section 5).

4. No warranties; limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We do not verify reports and make no representation that any listed number belongs to a scammer, or that any unlisted number is safe. Nothing on this service is legal, financial, or professional advice. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from use of, reliance on, or inability to use the service, or from the content of user submissions.

5. Moderation and removal

We may remove or amend any report at our discretion, including reports that appear false, abusive, or that expose personal information. If a report concerns your number and you believe it is false or abusive, or a report contains your personal information, open an issue at github.com/sky-flux/scammercasefile with the case file URL. We review such requests but do not guarantee removal.

6. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from a report you submitted, your use of the service in violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or a third party's rights.

7. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the service operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute not resolved informally through the removal-request process above should first be raised as a GitHub issue; nothing here waives any right you have under applicable consumer-protection law to bring a claim in your own local courts.

8. Changes

We may update these terms; the "Last updated" date above reflects the current version. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
