1 report filed against numbers whose calling code resolves to United States, most recently on . United States ranks #7 of 8 countries on file by report volume.

  1. 1Wrong Number / Pig Butchering1 reportA friendly "sorry, wrong number" message from a stranger who keeps the chat going, builds trust over weeks, and eventually steers you toward a fraudulent crypto or trading platform. The long grooming phase before any money is mentioned is the tell — worth reporting even at the friendly stage.

A calling code isn't proof of who's texting

This page groups reports by the reported number's country calling code, not by any claim about who is actually behind the number. Scammers routinely use spoofed caller IDs, virtual/VoIP numbers, and numbers rented or resold across borders, so a United States calling code doesn't mean the operator is physically in United States -- only that the number was issued to look that way. Treat the country here as one data point alongside the scam type, the reported notes, and any evidence attached, not as a verdict about a place or its people.

Wrong Number / Pig Butchering
Classic "wrong number" pig-butchering opener. US number (+1 760) contacted our business WhatsApp, then claimed "I mistook you for Monica from Vivi's company", apologized, and immediately pivoted to personal small talk ("I noticed your number is from China. Are you Chinese too?"). Profile: verified WhatsApp Business account named "Kevin", avatar of a well-dressed Asian man painting, listed as "web designer" at Taikoo Place, 979 King's Road, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong — location inconsistent with the US number. The verified badge and upscale HK office address are part of the persona. No money requested yet at time of report. Screenshot evidence available.

Frequently asked questions

How is a country determined for a number?

Automatically, from the number's country calling code — not self-declared by the reporter.

Can a scammer fake being from this country?

Yes — a real or spoofed/virtual number can display a calling code without the person actually being there. Treat country as a data point, not proof of origin.

How often is this page updated?

Immediately — every count here reflects the reports on file in real time, not a periodic snapshot.
